THE LOST BLADESMAN (2011; d. Alan Mak, Felix Chong)
Whoa! Whoa! And … double whoa! A stately period drama that explores the true nature of loyalty, featuring several exceptional action sequences directed by Donnie Yen, who stars as an invincible warrior, a hero who is devoted to principle and, he says, peace, while those around him are devoted to a wicked Emperor, and warfare, and chaos. Really good; loved the pacing, and the things that are left out: we always know what’s happening, and have time for contemplation too.
